DOCUMENTARY FILM MONTH

The Documentary Film Month is a national event created in 2000 on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and the association Images en bibliothèques. Its aim is to promote, enhance, and disseminate creative documentary films and takes place every year in November. For one month, throughout France, media libraries, cinemas, associations, educational institutions, and social organizations organize free screenings and events around this film genre. For 10 years, the Aveyron Department has been involved in this cultural event by funding and organizing 20 free documentary film screenings as well as numerous mediation and training activities across Aveyron.
It is the Aveyron Departmental Media Library (MDA) that coordinates this action in partnership with the public reading network libraries.

A documentary investigation into the contemporary French agricultural world through numerous accounts: farmers, researchers, civil servants, writers... A world that manages to resist the upheavals hitting it – economic, scientific, social – and which, willy-nilly, continues to maintain ties between generations. A world at the center of major questions about the future.
Without ever giving in to the complexity of the problems, nor to the scientific vocabulary whose scope and poetry we gradually discover (...), Marchais' film accomplishes what most recent eco-blockbusters (...) had missed. Charlie Hebdo, Jean-Baptiste Thoret.
